On this St. Patrick's Day, we would like to take a moment to celebrate the progress Lake Forest High School District 115 appears to be making in improving its Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) policies. As an organization that is dedicated to advocating for transparency and accountability in education, we recognize the significance of this apparent progress.

FOIA plays an important role in keeping government transparent and accountable and has been used to expose a wide range of government misconduct and waste at the Federal, State, and local levels. At its core, FOIA embodies the idea that public districts belong to the public and that all documents produced by the government should be open and transparent to the people, with limited specific exceptions.
In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day, we cannot help but draw a comparison between seeming efforts to improve past policies of bureaucratic opaqueness and red tape with St. Patrick's legendary act of eliminating the snakes in Ireland. In both cases, courageous individuals took action to do what was right for their Republic.
Just as St. Patrick rid Ireland of its harmful reptiles, the District seems to have taken significant steps to address the deficiencies in its information-sharing policies. We commend their willingness to listen to our concerns and take action to address them. By enhancing its Freedom of Information Act policies, the District has created greater transparency and accountability, which benefits all members of our community.
However, as we celebrate this significant improvement, we must also remember that there is still work to be done. ParentsCare will continue to monitor the District's progress and advocate for policies that promote transparency and accountability. We believe that ongoing communication and collaboration are essential for creating a transparent and accountable education system.
Once again, we would like to congratulate Lake Forest High School District 115 on its apparent improvements. We are proud to be part of a community that values transparency and accountability. We look forward to working together to ensure our children receive the best education possible.
Happy St Patrick's Day!
